Dear subscribers, dear visitors of our websites, dear friends

Since its launch in 2003/2004, luxroots has managed to become the largest online genealogy project in the Greater Region.
As per September 30th, 2018, luxroots closed the 2017/2018 year with the following results:
- the addition of the details of 161,000 birth certificates / baptisms to reach 1.5 million (+ 12%)
- the entering of details of 35,000 marriage certificates to a total of 230,000 records (+ 18%) and of 37,000 death certificates (+ 45%) to a total of 122,000 records.
More than 56% of registered people are connected to their parents.
Despite the removal of some 1,000 user profiles as a result of the new EU data protection rules, we have been able to increase the number of our registered visitors by 614 to a total of 6,339, of which 1/6 is supporting the luxroots project by a subscription. Without this help, the project could not survive. A big thank you to all our subscribers.

The general meeting of luxroots.club asbl took place on October 23rd, 2018 in Hesperange. After having greeted the members, the député-maire Marc LIES and Alphonse ANSAY of the ALAN association, the activity and financial reports were presented. With 1,161 members per October 1st, 2018, the luxroots.club association is by far the largest genealogical association in Luxembourg. Apart from the monthly meetings, the association presented its project to the Jewish Antenne Lorraine-Luxembourg and the history circles of Kopstal and Pétange. 35 members took part in the Christmas 2017 meeting and 29 members took part in the tour to Thionville and Manderen. Cash at the end of the year amounted to € 1,070.- Apart from a direct assistance of € 1,000 to one of our hospitalized volunteers for months, a check of € 1,600 was given to ALAN association (rare diseases). Mr LIES welcomed the activities of luxroots and wished them good luck for the future. Mr. ANSAY presented the activities of ALAN and thanked for the generous donation.
The meeting ended with a small reception.

The genealogical days of Luxembourg and the Greater Region were organized as part of the FOR EVER YOUNG exhibition in Hesperange and were a great success. The next days will take place on October 5th and 6th, 2019 in Hesperange.

Our Christmas 2018 meeting will take place this year on Saturday, December 15th, 2018 from 2:30pm at the Centre Nicolas Braun in Hesperange. All members are invited and are
requested to register by form until November 30, 2018. Participants then have the opportunity to visit the Hesper Krëschtmaart in the municipal park of Hesperange.

At the beginning of the 15th anniversary of the luxroots project and as a small gift, we reduced on November 5th, 2018 the hits counter of each annual subscription by 1,500.

Which associate is currently working on what ?

Our website igenealogy.lu, where you can publish your GEDCOM file for free, now holds 100 trees with 310,000 people after adding/updating the files of Robert FABER and Alan THILL. Give us yours and we will publish it for free on this site.
NEW: If your Gedcom file (containing 2,000 people or more) has not or will not be published on another website in Luxembourg, we will credit your account with
1,000 myluxroots points.

Let us build together the genealogy tree of Luxembourg! luxroots is the genealogical association in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg whose volunteers do not work on personal databases, but enter data online directly to the non-profit luxroots-database.
That's why working together makes us so powerful. If you are able to analyze records of civil registers or even of parish registers, and you want to be part of a dynamic team of volunteers as part of the cross-border and non-profit project, please contact us!
You do not need to go to townships or to archives. luxroots makes available to its associates the pictures of the records of a certain township/parish free of charge which they plan to analyze and enter the details in the luxroots-database.
Do not hesitate to participate in this great puzzle of genealogy of Luxembourg by analyzing and capturing the details of the records of your preferred township or parish. Check our inventory of records of townships/parishes
to be analyzed soon or other available documents.

For your searches, you do not need to have a special genealogy program, neither free nor paid. Through the myluxroots transactions, more than 400 subscribers and associates have already entered their recent family members to luxroots linking them to the ancestors already entered earlier by our volunteers. If you add 7 family members (1924-2017) in our database, it is possible to get a pedigree chart with 1,000 ancestors (10 generations), and this in 10 minutes, not to mention the ability to create lists of descendants of these ancestors instantly. In Luxembourg, you will find nothing comparable to our project and for this reason, please help us to assemble the large Grand Duchy of Luxembourg genealogy puzzle and the neighboring regions. Check the pedigree charts of Christiane, Hortense, Paulette and Serge. Do the same, we will support you!
