Working together on genealogy for the future, that is the motto of the luxroots group
This makes us one of the most successful providers of Luxembourgish genealogical data.

The quality of our information and the satisfaction of our subscribers and visitors are our priorities.

For 2014, we wish you good health. For your genealogical research, we wish you the courage, patience and luck you need to achieve your research. We hope that the team of luxroots associates can help you.

For the past year, our Genealogy Group broke all records: more than 162.000 birth records, almost 20.0000 marriage records and more than 12.000 death records were analyzed and entered into our database. This database now contains details of more than 800,000 births, marriages and death. According to Google Analytics, 9,500 unique visitors (lu, be, fr, us, de, en,...) went on the www.luxroots.com website during the last 12 months. A big thank you to all our associates for their volunteer work and to our subscribers for their financial support.

At the bottom of this page, you find some graphs about birth records in our database.

For work phases I (births 1800-1923 births, scheduled to be completed in late 2015) and II (marriages 1840-1923, end of 2017), we still have to analyze 235,000 births and 130,000 marriages for the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. Meanwhile, we continue working on these phases in the German and Belgian border regions. Phase III (baptisms before 1800, at the end of 2019) is progressing well in the Northern Cantons. We hope to reach the million records entered for the end of 2014.

Help us so we can support various actions of charity organizations. Donate myluxroots points to
luxroots CHARITY.
For every 100 points offered by you (1 point worth one euro cent ) luxroots offers 100 extra points up to a maximum of 50,000 points. Thank you in advance for your donation of points for a good cause.

If you are looking for answers about questions on our project, take a look
at this page. More suggestions, questions, and criticism to further improve our projects can be sent to us and we will try to give answers to your questions. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

You can also use your myluxroots points for our new application to generate PDF documents with luxroots data Thanks to a program developed by Steve MULLER, luxroots offers the subscribers and associates the possibility to download, online via the myluxroots points system, PDF documents containing the data (captured from birth and/or baptism records) of people with the same family name. For example, please open this document containing an extract (9 pages) from the PDF document on the KIRSCH family name (101 pages) .
The documents will be available via
our search page by typing in the white box (in the blue background row entitled 'enter at least the 3 first letters of the lastname') the family name for which you wish to have this PDF document. Confirm the search by clicking on 'Search', and on the next page click on the number (
There are only links to the numbers that are lower than your myluxroots points.)
, and then follow the instructions on the opening page.
For each person of this document, you will find a link on its name in order to open the luxroots record for this person (if you are already logged in).

As already mentioned above, these PDF documents will be billed through our myluxroots points system (1 point per person with a minimum of 100 points per document.) Therefore, pay attention to have enough points for buying documents by earning points while uploading further information in our database or
by purchasing additional points.
In order not to disturb the performance of our server, the PDF document of family name with more than 1,500 people must be ordered
by mail and will be sent to you.

For the holidays, we recommend you the
following documents, where the payment can also be handled via this myluxroots points system.

During the last weeks of the month of December 2013, the luxroots.com associates finished the following data input:
4.495 births 1890-1923 of the township of
Kayl by Micheline and Fernand HERMES-METZ
1.558 baptisms 1623-1805 of the parish of
Elvange by Hortense BOHLER-HAAS
1.003 deaths 1870-1923 of the township of
Ell by Heng LEYDER.
Which associate is currently working on what ?

Do not hesitate to participate in this great puzzle of genealogy of Luxembourg by analyzing and capturing the details of the records of your preferred township or parish. We are looking for people entering births in the cantons of Capellen, Grevenmacher, Esch-sur-Alzette, Luxembourg and Remich as well as for the Belgian and German border regions.
In addition, some 200,000 baptisms are waiting to be deciphered to enter details of these records. If you know Latin, we need you!

This database now holds 69 family genealogies with a total of 160,000 persons.

Many thanks to our associate Fernand TREMUTH and to the
De Cliärrwer Kanton association who authorize us the publishing of article series about the school history of the township of Heinerscheid on luxroots (articles in German).

We wish to inform you that we will finish our genealogy forum www.généalogie.lu in absence of a reasonable interest.

Did you already check our database about the Luxembourgers, soldiers of France 1792-1815, if not, continue
here to see details of more than 5.000 soldiers !

www.roots.lu, the website with details of records of the 17th and 18th centuries, 1,000,000 persons (children, fathers, mothers, husbands, spouses, godfathers and -mothers, ...) are indexed so they can be looked through with our search engines.

Contact other luxroots users in order to work together on a common family name. More than 1,900 luxroots users have already given their consent.

myluxroots, our application suite has been developed to enable you to add your recent family members born from 1895 to today, to link them to those already entered in our database, and thus obtain a pedigree chart for the people you entered. (Please note that people born until 1923 are often entered in our database on basis of information from the National Archives and that the people born after y (y=actual year-100) are not shown.)
The subscriber can add studies, jobs, functions, addresses, other information, pictures and links to all the records. The subscriber, enriching the database luxroots, earns myluxroots points. These points can be used to build pedigree charts and/or lists of descendants for people in the database already linked by marriage.
If you need further help, don't hesitate to contact us by
mail, phone (00352) 2799 4713 or skype: eicherg (Enter 'luxroots' in the information field in order to get a new contact.)

As you know it already, all our subscriptions are limited in time and in volume in order to avoid professionals (searching for heirs, holders of other websites or databases, ...) and thus allow our server to respond quickly to requests from family researchers.
If you reach this volume limit, you can now
use your myluxroots points in order to decrease the volume counter. (These myluxroots points are offered with the EXTENDED subscriptions, obtained when adding information to our database or by buying further points.

Graphs about birth records in our database.
The first graph mentions the number of births entered by period.
The second a breakdown by country (knowing that there are for Germany most records of the Arzfeld and Neuerburg regions and for Belgium records of the Bastogne, Fauvillers, Gouvy and Houffalize regions.)
The third graph indicates the number of records by Luxemburgish cantons.
