Working together on genealogy for the future, that is the motto of the luxroots group
This makes us one of the most successful providers of Luxembourgish genealogical data.

The quality of our information and the satisfaction of our subscribers and visitors are our priorities.

Unfortunately, we have to start this newsletter with very sad news, announcing the loss of one of our collaborators, as Christiane OTH-GALLION died January 15th, 2014 after a long illness at the age of 60 years.
She joined the genealogy project luxroots.com as subscriber in 2004 and as associate in March 2012 to work on the townships of Septfontaines and Kehlen.
We join the family in their mourning and express our deepest sympathy to her husband and her children.
Christiane, thank you for your kindness and your commitment to our project which will keep a memory of you forever.

luxroots counts among the registered visitors of its websites approximately 1,300 family researchers living in Luxembourg. More than 350 of these visitors are supporting the projects of the group with their work or through a subscription thus making it the largest genealogical group in Luxembourg.

Look at our
Flashback about past events especially our last meeting January 8th. 30 persons were present to be informed of the luxroots project and their new developments.

We regularly send questionnaires to our subscribers to know more about their satisfaction with our activities and projects. Most customers endorse our projects, others are seeking information in other regions and periods not yet covered by our associates. We were surprised to receive this answer:
Your tool is very well and allowed me to complete my family tree. However, in principle, I am not willing to pay for access to data that should remain in the public domain.
We are very happy with the wording of the first sentence. But to the second sentence, we must give a comment: luxroots asks that historical records are available to the general public. For this reason, we have signed the petition against the European regulation draft on personal data # EUdataP. Access to these documents and analyzing / publishing of contents of these documents are two different pairs of shoes. Without access to documents, luxroots could never have started; with luxroots, genealogical research in Luxembourg has become much easier. Even with volunteer work, the publication of data via a complex and fast IT infrastructure produces high costs. We are very happy that much of our visitors appreciate this transcription of records in our database by supporting our projects by a subscription.

The genealogy group luxroots is at your service with an information desk:

Do not hesitate to participate in this great puzzle of genealogy of Luxembourg by analyzing and capturing the details of the records of your preferred township or parish. We are looking for people entering births in the cantons of Capellen, Grevenmacher, Esch-sur-Alzette, Luxembourg and Remich as well as for the Belgian and German border regions.
In addition, some 200,000 baptisms are waiting to be deciphered to enter details of these records. If you know Latin, we need you!

myluxroots, our application suite has been developed to enable you to add your recent family members born from 1895 to today, to link them to those already entered in our database, and thus obtain a pedigree chart for the people you entered. (Please note that people born until 1923 are often entered in our database on basis of information from the National Archives and that the people born after y (y=actual year-100) are not shown.)
The subscriber can add studies, jobs, functions, addresses, other information, pictures and links to all the records. The subscriber, enriching the database luxroots, earns myluxroots points. These points can be used to build pedigree charts and/or lists of descendants for people in the database already linked by marriage.
