More than 350 of these visitors are supporting the projects of the group with their work or through a subscription thus making it the largest genealogical group in Luxembourg.

Dear visitors, please do not get caught by misleading ads !

If all the births and baptisms of Luxembourg were analyzed and entered so far (~1601-2013) resulting in 414 years, with a fairly high average of 5,250 births per year, we’d arrive at almost 2.2 million people. (In 1821, the current territory of Luxembourg consisted of only 134,000 inhabitants.)

As well informed and honest researcher, we know that in only a half dozen parishes records of baptisms are available before 1660; that most of the priests began to register baptisms starting from 1710, that many registers have large gaps or are missing, and that births after 1923 are not available to the public. Which brings us to the reduced number of 224 years and less than 1.2 million people.

Nobody can claim to have the details of these 1.2 million in a database. Even adding the data from all genealogical sites and family books of Luxembourg, we would not find that sum.

Among the 766,000 people entered on luxroots, there are 610,000 born in Luxembourg. If we add baptisms from roots.lu (parishes not yet registered on luxroots), we reach a little over 700,000 people. Therefore, we must show a lot more endurance for the input of the remaining 500,000.
To enter this 500,000 birth and baptism records, you need 30 years or 10 people working for 3 years (full-time), without mentioning entering the details of wedding and death records.

Additionally, it should be noted that 99.6% of people entered on luxroots have complete data, which means that luxroots shows the full name, date and place of birth, parents and godfathers/godmothers or witnesses while for other sites and books only first- and lastnames are available for at least 20% of the people.

Let's be honest , please !

The Easter exhibition in Preizerdaul was a resounding success and we are pleased to have participated with an information desk. Many new contacts were made at that time.
Since January 1st, 2014, nearly 200 people registered on luxroots and more than 40 of these new registered support our project with a subscription. If you are not yet among them,
join them now!

Which associate is currently working on what ?

Roland WEIER, Biwer joined our team with the input of births of Remich.

On
igenealogy.lu, we updated the files of Camille SCHMIT with 2.442 people and of Gérard GLOD with 26.682 people. This database now holds 73 genealogies with 169.000 people.

Acts of notaries - our new project
Marianne EHMANN transmitted us more files about records of the notary Nicolas KNAUS: Clervaux(1774/1783), Bigonville(1783) (370 records), Wiltz (1759-1769) (862 records), 1760-1767 (353 records) and now more than 6.000 records are indexed.
The search can be performed based on the name of the notary, by locality name or family name of the involved people and entering at least the desired decade. The transaction then returns a list of documents relating to these filters and proposes, where available, a link URL image to the notary folder on the FamilySearch.org website. The notary's deed in question will appear after entering the number indicated in the above-mentioned link in the appropriate box.
For this project, we are looking for further associates to advance in this interesting and useful project.
