Note also that Kevin WESTER just left the leadership of the LACS on May 31st. We thank him for the good relations and we wish him well in his new career.

In connection with our information published in the last newsletter about the PETRY-STURM family, we must add that the birth of Marguerite has well been registered in Le Havre (France), but that the birth took place aboard the ship which left Le Havre to Saint Croix (Tenerife) (probably a boat of migrants to the continents of America), the record even said that Dominique PETRY is 3rd class passenger. Joel, thank you for this additional information!

When analyzing the records of different registers, we always find out the details of the records with good or bad news or even tragedies. Thus, our associate Marilyn FÃœRST currently working on the birth register of the municipality of Stadtbredimus just found an official report dated 11 Pluviose XII (=February 1st, 1804) concerning a fatal accident of 6 people who drowned in the Moselle. We show an excerpt from the official report below:
... au citoyen Jacques OLIVIER, maire de cette ville (Stadtbredimus), lequel nous déclare que le jour d'hier entre 3 et 4 heures de l'aprés midi six personnes avaient eu le malheur de se noyer dans la Moselle, en voulant la traverser pour se rendre à Palzem, ... ... que les six personnes noyées sont:
la Dame Marguerite WELLENSTEIN, épouse du citoyen DE LA FONTAINE, propriétaire et domicilié à Stadtbredimus;
Appoline, 26 ans; Elisabeth, 24 ans; Thérèse, 20 ans, les 3 filles ainées DE LA FONTAINE, n'ayant pu être retrouvées ni retirées de l'eau;
Henry OLIVIER, né le 06.12.1785 à Stadtbredimus, fils de Jacques OLIVIER, bourgmestre et de Marie HERTZIG;
Jean RUB, né à Grevenmacher le 05.05.1789, fils de Jean RUB (RUPPERT?), journalier et Elisabeth FEITZ (FEIT?), tous domiciliés à Stadtbredimus.
que Madame DE LA FONTAINE avait été retirée de l'eau, peu de temps après sa chute, donnant encore des signes de vie, qu'elle a été transportée sur le champ chez elle où elle est morte dans son lit une demie heure après;
que les 2 jeunes gens noyés avaient été retirés dans la matinée et qu'ils étaient déposés sur le bord de la Moselle ... ...

During the month of May 2015, the luxroots.com associates finished the following data input:

Which associate is currently working on what ?

What great feat did our new associate Josette TOMPERS achieve? During the first 100 days (March 11th to June 18th, 2015), she entered 5,312 birth records of the township of Attert, this means 53 a day (7/7). Well done, Josette!

luxroots is the genealogical association in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg whose associates do not work on personal databases, but enter data online directly to the luxroots-database. That's why working together makes us so powerful. Provided that you are able to analyze records of civil registers or even of parish registers, and you want to be part of a dynamic team of volunteers as part of the cross-border and non-profit project, please contact us!
You do not need to go to townships or to archives. luxroots makes available to its associates the pictures of the records of a certain township/parish free of charge which they plan to analyze and enter the details in the luxroots-database.
Do not hesitate to participate in this great puzzle of genealogy of Luxembourg by analyzing and capturing the details of the records of your preferred township or parish. Check our inventory of records of townships/parishes
to be analyzed soon or other available documents.

The luxroots genealogy group is your genealogy partner in Luxembourg and offers to help in your researchp.s. our next newsletter will be sent on Thursday, July 30th, 2015.
