Dear subscribers, dear visitors of our websites, dear friends

luxroots.com asbl, the manager of the luxroots projects, has closed its financial year 2016-2017 on September 30th, 2017. Although 188 visitors did not renew their subscriptions, we nevertheless could increase the number of subscriptions by 23% to more than 1,000 subscribers. This number of 1,000 subscribers was considered in October 2010, at that time with 29 volunteers and 190 subscribers, in order to reach it in 2020. We would like to thank subscribers for their financial support and loyalty.
Many thanks to our associates for their performance during the past financial year. The number of entered records increased by 223,014 (=610/day) to 1,617,195, including 1,339,090 birth records. The number of marriage records increased by 36% to 194.759. The details of 83.346 death records are available in our database. 692,414 birth records are connected to marriage records.
The number of registered visitors increased by 12% to 5,725 of which 5,085 wish to receive our monthly newsletter. The number of our associates increased slightly to 61.
Apart from some presentations of the project, and training for our associates, we participated during 27 days in 18 exhibitions and information booths.
The activity and financial reports of the association were approved at the meeting of associates on October 21st, 2017. (Click on the picture to enlarge it.)

Public interest before personal interest is the motto of the luxroots genealogy group. The luxroots data are not available to feed databases, websites, genealogical work for third parties, which pass beyond the genealogical research of the family of the subscriber. The use of our data for commercial purposes (search for ancestors, heir research, ..) is not permitted without a special permission.
Genealogy is a very nice hobby, but sometimes it becomes commercial. The board members of the luxroots associations as well as our luxroots associates are not working in genealogy to make money.

Although 10 interested parties took a subscription and 4 renewed their subscriptions, the genealogy days 2017 did not achieve the desired success. Here some press articles:

The next genealogical days will take place at the Nicolas Braun Center in Hesperange on the weekend of October 6-7, 2018.
If you are not yet a luxroots-subscriber,
join them now!

Through the myluxroots transactions, more than 300 subscribers and associates have already entered their recent family members to luxroots linking them to the ancestors already entered earlier by our volunteers. If you add 7 family members (1924-2017) in our database, it is possible that you get a pedigree chart with 1,000 ancestors (10 generations), and this in 10 minutes, not to mention the ability to create lists of descendants of these ancestors instantly. In Luxembourg, you will find nothing comparable to our project and for this reason, please help us to assemble the large Grand Duchy of Luxembourg genealogy puzzle and the neighboring regions. Check the pedigree charts of Christiane, Hortense, Paulette and Serge. Do the same, we will support you!
How to link a death notice I found on eluxemburgensia.lu with the record of the deceased person in luxroots? See our Demo-Video. (We suggest to open the video with the Firefox Browser.)

Which associate is currently working on what ?

Let us build together the genealogy tree of Luxembourg! luxroots is the genealogical association in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg whose volunteers do not work on personal databases, but enter data online directly to the non-profit luxroots-database.
That's why working together makes us so powerful. If you are able to analyze records of civil registers or even of parish registers, and you want to be part of a dynamic team of volunteers as part of the cross-border and non-profit project, please contact us!
You do not need to go to townships or to archives. luxroots makes available to its associates the pictures of the records of a certain township/parish free of charge which they plan to analyze and enter the details in the luxroots-database.
Do not hesitate to participate in this great puzzle of genealogy of Luxembourg by analyzing and capturing the details of the records of your preferred township or parish. Check our inventory of records of townships/parishes
to be analyzed soon or other available documents.

Learn more about genealogy in general and the luxroots projects in particular at our information booths & meetings. Ask for your Din A3 form of a pedigree chart over 5 generations.

Our website igenealogy.lu, where you can publish your GEDCOM file for free, now holds 89 trees with 252,000 people after adding / updating the files of Robert LUCAS with 1,479 people and of Gérald PIQUET-MICHOT with 12,379 people. Give us yours and we will publish it for free on this site..

Contact other luxroots users in order to work together on a common family name. 4,400 luxroots users have already given their consent.

Mil GOERENS published a new book: 'Soen', legends from Luxembourg and the border regions.

We have the sad duty to announce the death of our longtime subscriber, Mr Jos ZENNER who died September 27th, 2017. We share the grief of his family and we offer our sincere and heartfelt condolences to his family.
