Dear subscribers, dear visitors of our websites, dear friends On 25 May 2018, the 2018 reform of EU data protection rules, took effect. Of the more than 7,000 visitors registered on luxroots, we anonymized or removed some 1,000 profiles (rejected messages, canceled email addresses, ...). The other 6,000 registered visitors were contacted on April 25th, 2018 to remind them of their registration on luxroots during the period from 2004 to 2018 and by offering them the opportunity to anonymize or to update their user profiles. The luxroots group is limited to entering the details of birth, marriage and death records prior to 1924 and does not display data from people born during the last 100 years or even the last 110 years for people born in Germany . We invite our subscribers to enter only data from people of their recent family for whom they have this input authorization. The online teamwork in the field of genealogy in Luxembourg was developed by the luxroots group from 2003. Almost 1.8 million births / baptisms, marriages and deaths (600 / day) were analyzed and their details were entered by more than 60 volunteers in the non-profit association luxroots.com database. We congratulate the National Archives of Luxembourg for starting a similar project where the details of 3,000 death certificates were entered within a week in their database. Congratulations to the volunteers who took part in this project. Let us build together the genealogy tree of Luxembourg! luxroots is the genealogical association in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg whose volunteers do not work on personal databases, but enter data online directly to the non-profit luxroots-database. That's why working together makes us so powerful. If you are able to analyze records of civil registers or even of parish registers, and you want to be part of a dynamic team of volunteers as part of the cross-border and non-profit project, please contact us! You do not need to go to townships or to archives. luxroots makes available to its associates the pictures of the records of a certain township/parish free of charge which they plan to analyze and enter the details in the luxroots-database. Do not hesitate to participate in this great puzzle of genealogy of Luxembourg by analyzing and capturing the details of the records of your preferred township or parish. Check our inventory of records of townships/parishes to be analyzed soon or other available documents. ▲ During a meeting at the Ministry of Culture on April 20th, 2018, between Mrs Josée KIRPS, director of the National Archives, Guy ARENDT, Secretary of State for Culture, and Georges EICHER of luxroots.com asbl, Mrs KIRPS confirmed the posting of the Civil Register records on the website of the National Archives according to the following schedule: - for mid July 2018, the records of the district of Luxembourg and - for December 2018, the records of the district of Diekirch The diocesan archives of Luxembourg plan to put online this year the parish registers on matricula-online.eu Learn more about genealogy in general and the luxroots projects in particular at our information booths & meetings.
