Dear subscribers, dear visitors of our websites, dear friends In order to make good use of past documents, you have to transcribe them into a database. This is the basic work of the 60 luxroots volunteers who every day (7/7) transcribe the details of more than 600 birth/baptisms, marriages and deaths certificates of parish and civil registers for the period from ~1600 to 1923 in the common database of the luxroots association. This work provides an interesting, informative and useful hobby for our volunteers, an ideal help for family researchers from Luxembourg and around the world, and an appreciable help to future generations in the deciphering of the details of the handwritten records. luxroots - a project that is progressing well thanks to the online teamwork of our volunteers. Public interest before personal interest is the motto of luxroots. We passed the milestone of 1.8 million records, almost 1.5 million unique birth/baptism certificates entered of which 1.1 million for Luxembourg and 350,000 for the Belgian and German border region. More than 815,000 people are connected to their father and mother so that we can establish pedigree charts and lists of descendants up to 10 generations in seconds for our subscribers. Our volunteers met at the Beckerich Mill on July 17th to exchange news on the project, discuss progress and expansion of the project, and set some rules to follow when entering the records. (Pictures of this meeting by Fernand HERMES) Even if the project is nearing completion for the Luxembourg birth/marriage records, we are still looking for new volunteers to extend the project in the border regions of Germany (Prüm and Bitburg region), Belgium (Lommersweiler, Schönberg, Manderfeld, Büllingen, Samrée, Laroche, Ortho, Bertogne, Longchamps, Sibret, Juseret, Witry, Ebly, Anlier, Mellier, Habay-la-Neuve, Habay-la-Vieille) and in France (Mont-Saint-Martin, Longlaville , Saulnes, Haucourt-Mouaine, Herserange, Hussigny-Godbrange in Meurthe-et-Moselle). An information meeting will be held on this subject at the Centre Nicolas Braun in Hesperange on August 28th, 2018 from 7:30pm. Give us yours and we will publish it for free on this site. NEW: If your Gedcom file (containing 2,000 people or more) has not or will not be published on another website in Luxembourg, we will credit your account with 1,000 myluxroots points. ▲ For your searches, you do not need to have a special genealogy program, neither free nor paid. Through the myluxroots transactions, more than 400 subscribers and associates have already entered their recent family members to luxroots linking them to the ancestors already entered earlier by our volunteers. If you add 7 family members (1924-2017) in our database, it is possible to get a pedigree chart with 1,000 ancestors (10 generations), and this in 10 minutes, not to mention the ability to create lists of descendants of these ancestors instantly.
