The event of September will be the
National Day of Genealogy and local History, on Sunday, September 11th from 10am to 6pm at the Cultural Center in Leudelange. You find details of this event with this link. You're all welcome ! The luxroots.lu group will also be present:
  • in St-Vith (B), October 23rd, from 2 to 6pm at the 1st Day of Genealogy
  • in Lunéville (F), the weekend of October, 29th and 30th at the international Genealogy Days 40 years UCGL
  • in Kehlen (L), Novembre 6th at the Day of local History
  • in Walferdange (L), the weekend of November 19th and 20th, at the Walfer Biicherdeeg

We also planned a vist to the National Archives on October 15th, Saturday morning from 9 to 11:30am. Please
register !
The Luxembourg University organizes a
meeting about family names between Meuse and Rhine on the Campus of Walferdange on Septembre 21th and 22th .

The team of the National Archives started their courses in paleography with old German of the 19th century. Beginners can register for the next course starting in October (Oct 13, 20, 27 and Nov 3). For more details, click

During the past month, we finished the following data input:
586 baptisms 1661-1808 of the parish of
Niederwampach by Ramona LINCK-GAMBUCCI
2,238 marriages 1830-1923 of the city of
Wiltz by Marguy SCHAACK-RASQUIN.
609 marriages 1840-1923 of the township of
Goesdorf by Armand SERRES-HEINEN.
4,219 births 1797-1923 of the township of
Bettborn by Georges EICHER.

We need more associates to help us with the data input of records for the following
Townships and parishes as well as of the cantons of Capellen, Grevenmacher, and Remich which we want to add to our project. Contact us if you are interested in working with us ! Which associate is working on what today ?

The number 2/2011 of the De Cliärrwer Kanton has just been published with the continuation of the postal cards of the canton Clervaux-region of Hosingen, an article about the origin of the village names by Paul STAAR and other interesting contributions. Join this
association , in order to get this beautiful magazine delivered regularly.

Our associate Henri LEYDER sent us a document about the
the villages names on the luxemburgish borders with on one side, the luxemburgish names and on the other side, the french or german names.

With the approval of Dr Cristian KOLLMANN of the Luxembourg University, we publish a link his article
Where is Engeldingen ?, a study which takes us to Hagondange (F) from where the ENGELDINGER families are coming from.
