The quality of our information and the satisfaction of our subscribers and visitors are our priorities.

The luxroots genealogy group is a dynamic team of volunteers at your service in the context of the cross-border and non-profit project luxroots.
The plan is to analyze all available records of Civil Registers (until 1923) and of the parish registers (before 1800) of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and the Belgian, French and German border regions and to enter the details of these records in the common database .
Only working together makes it possible to complete such an ambitious project within a reasonable amount of time.

Beside the continued commitment of our volunteering associates, we are happy that more and more family researchers around the world support our project by a subscription, which gives them the possibility to do their research in the largest genealogical database of Luxembourg.

With the financial support of our subscribers, we were able to participate to various charitable actions in the last years.
We want to continue with the help of our associates, subscribers and visitors and for this reason we have set up luxroots CHARITY.

Each subscriber receives with his EXTENDED subscription myluxroots points. In the context of our myluxroots applications further points are assigned when adding further information relating to births already in our database our for adding recent members of your family.

For every 100 points offered by you (1 point worth one euro cent ) luxroots offers 100 extra points up to a maximum of 50,000 points.
These points or rather the funds collected will be donated to a charity organization defined by the associates.

A new application for the generation of PDF documents with luxroots data
Thanks to a program developed by Steve MULLER, luxroots offers the subscribers and associates the possibility to download, online via the myluxroots points system, PDF documents containing the data (captured from birth and/or baptism records) of people with the same family name. For example, please open this document containing an extract (9 pages) from the PDF document on the KIRSCH family name (101 pages) .
The documents will be available via our search page by typing in the white box (in the blue background row entitled 'enter at least the 3 first letters of the lastname') the family name for which you wish to have this PDF document. Confirm the search by clicking on 'Search', and on the next page click on the number (
There are only links to the numbers that are lower than your myluxroots points.), and then follow the instructions on the opening page.
For each person of this document, you will find a link on its name in order to open the luxroots record for this person (if you are already logged in).

As already mentioned above, these PDF documents will be billed through our myluxroots points system (1 point per person with a minimum of 100 points per document.) Therefore, pay attention to have enough points for buying documents by earning points while uploading further information in our database or by purchasing additional points .
In order not to disturb the performance of our server, the PDF document of family name with more than 1,500 people must be ordered by mail and will be sent to you.

4,524 births 1860-1869 of the City of Luxembourg by Paulette GRUN-BESCH
389 marriages 1797-1839 of the township of Clervaux by Irma JODOCY-HENTZ and Georges EICHER
268 marriages 1840-1869 of the former township of Körperich (Neuerburg) by Armand SERRES-HEINEN
489 marriages 1840-1923 de la commune de Tuntange by Marilyn FÜRST
66 marriages 1801-1823 of the former township of Weicherdange by Georges EICHER
399 deaths 1850-1859 of the former township of Asselborn by Norbert LENERS.
Which associate is currently working on what ?

Do not hesitate to participate in this great puzzle of genealogy of Luxembourg by analyzing and capturing the details of the records of your preferred township or parish. We are looking for people entering births in the cantons of Capellen, Grevenmacher, Esch-sur-Alzette, Luxembourg and Remich as well as for the Belgian and German border regions.
In addition, some 200,000 baptisms are waiting to be deciphered to enter details of these records. If you know Latin, we need you! Contact us!

On www.igenealogy.lu ,
- we added a file with 4,524 people received from Jean SIMONIN
- a file with 4,978 people from Michel KIRSCH
- and we updated the file of Armand BAULER (5,355 persons).
This database now holds 69 family genealogies with a total of 158,000 persons.

Our partner website kirschr.com by René KIRSCH is showing the genealogy of Bertrange and Strassen (until 1850) and now holds more than 18,000 people and more than 5,000 families.

We wish to inform you that we will finish our genealogy forum www.généalogie.lu in absence of a reasonable interest.

Did you already check our database about the Luxembourgers, soldiers of France 1792-1815, if not, continue here to see details of more than 5.000 soldiers !

On our website www.roots.lu , the website with details of records of the 17th and 18th centuries, 1,000,000 persons (children, fathers, mothers, husbands, spouses, godfathers and -mothers, ...) are indexed so they can be looked through with our search engines.

Contact other luxroots users in order to work together on a common family name. More than 1,900 luxroots users have already given their consent.

You still need a gift for the holiday season, so why not offer the book vun der Long op d'Zonn, by our colleague Mil GOERENS.

myluxroots, our application suite has been developed to enable you to add your recent family members born from 1895 to today, to link them to those already entered in our database, and thus obtain a pedigree chart for the people you entered. (Please note that people born until 1923 are often entered in our database on basis of information from the National Archives and that the people born after y (y=actual year-100) are not shown.)
The subscriber can add studies, jobs, functions, addresses, other information, pictures and links to all the records. The subscriber, enriching the database luxroots, earns myluxroots points. These points can be used to build pedigree charts and/or lists of descendants for people in the database already linked by marriage.

As you know it already, all our subscriptions are limited in time and in volume in order to avoid professionals (searching for heirs, holders of other websites or databases, ...) and thus allow our server to respond quickly to requests from family researchers.
If you reach this volume limit, you can now use your myluxroots points in order to decrease the volume counter. (These myluxroots points are offered with the EXTENDED subscriptions, obtained when adding information to our database or by buying further points.
