luxroots.club asbl - your Genealogy Club in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg

Dear subscribers, dear visitors of our websites

What would luxroots be without its associates?
luxroots is a team of volunteers where each associate is ready to analyze annually a certain number of birth/baptism, marriage or death records and to enter the details in the common online database. Without their commitment and the team spirit, luxroots could not have become the number 1 in genealogy in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and the border regions.
All our associates were, and still are, family researchers, but they understand that a result can be achieved much faster by working together than by personal research. Without the teamwork published on our websites, family research would not be so easy for our subscribers.

For example, putting a spotlight on three of our associates:
Agnès and Armand SERRES-HEINEN from Wahlhausen were always interested in genealogy and did a lot of research in the District Court of Diekirch. They took a luxroots subscription in November 2007 and were contacted in autumn 2008 to invite them to join the luxroots project. After a few training sessions, even Agnes fell in love with the initially unwanted computer. The two new associates found a new hobby within the luxroots group by entering births of the township of Pütscheid, then a lot of records in the Eifel region and everywhere in the whole region. Up to this day, they have entered details of records for 67,000 births, 14,000 marriages and 7,000 deaths.

Who would have tried to start entering births of the City of Luxembourg estimated at over 60,000 for the period 1796-1923? Well, that's Paulette GRUN-BESCH from Medingen who took over this challenge in April 2013. As of February 8, 2015, she came to finish the 1796-1894 births with almost 44,000 births. She will probably finish the 1895-1923 births in the fall.
Before this accomplishment, Paulette, who joined our project in December 2009, had already entered the details of more than 60,000 birth records across Luxembourg.

Leaving aside the genealogy selfishness and actively supporting team work within the luxroots group, these three partners, important pillars of our project, serve as an example for current and future associates.

4 new associates have joined our team during the month of February 2015:
- Marie-Antoinette KERGER, Keispelt with the births of Martelange
- Catherine RENSCHLER, Hastings (NE, USA) with the baptisms of Hemstal
- Micheline HELLERS-THEUNISSEN, Lorentzweiler with the births 1895-1923 of Mamer
- Roland VAN DEN BROECK, Couillet (B) with the birts of Wibrin

Luxroots is the genealogical association in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg whose associates do not work on personal databases, but they enter data online directly to the luxroots-database. That's why working together makes us so powerful. Provided that you are able to analyze records of civil registers or even of parish registers, and you want to be part of a dynamic team of volunteers as part of the cross-border and non-profit project,
please contact us!
You do not need to go to townships or to archives. luxroots makes available to its associates the pictures of the records of a certain township/parish free of charge which they plan to analyze and enter the details in the luxroots-database.
Do not hesitate to participate in this great puzzle of genealogy of Luxembourg by analyzing and capturing the details of the records of your preferred township or parish. Check our inventory of records of townships/parishes
to be analyzed soon or other available documents.
If you are interested in learning more about our projects, visit us on Friday, May 15th, from 10am to 5pm in Itzig (RBS, 20,rue de Contern) within the 72 Stonnen Benevolat organized by the
Agence du Bénévolat.

Which associate is currently working on what ?

On
igenealogy.lu, we added the files of Werner MENNING, Trier(D) with 1,154 people and of Stefan REUS, Hamm(D) with 166 people. This database now holds 80 trees with 192,000 people.

A pedigree chart until 6 generations can now be established for any person born after 1923, usually entered by a subscriber using the myluxroots transactions. Use the transaction 'Add a child of a couple' in order that the child is related to his parents and thus a pedigree chart until 6 generations can be produced for that child.
